BEFORE MOVING DAY

BOOKING TERMS.

The details behind your booking. We confirm the job and the price with you before your move is accepted.

1. Requests and confirmation

Submitting the online form sends a booking request to East London Man With A Van. We check availability, the load, access and price, then contact you to confirm. Your time, vehicle and crew are secured when we confirm the booking.

2. Standard rates and cargo value

Our hourly rates cover the van and the selected crew, with a two hour minimum. Job time includes loading, driving and unloading. Students and customers over 65 receive 10% off hourly labour, including the two hour minimum and any extra hours. Mileage, surcharges and single item deliveries are excluded; suitable proof may be required and discounts do not stack. Promotional codes apply to the entire charge within the offer dates shown when the code is shared. Some offers apply to the move date and others to the date the booking is made. Enter your code before submitting the request. Where more than one discount is available, the one giving the greater saving applies; discounts are not added together. Pausing or changing a code does not remove a discount already attached to a saved booking. Low loader bookings are £120 per hour with one mover or £140 with two. The two hour minimum labour charge is £240 with one mover or £280 with two.

Standard rates apply only to cargo with a total value below £3,000. If the total value of the cargo is £3,000 or more, you must let us know before we confirm the booking. We will discuss the load and agree any different pricing or transport arrangements with you. This is a pricing condition, not a limit on our liability or a statement of insurance cover.

Single item delivery

£70 with one man or £90 with two men. Mileage and applicable zone charges are extra. No hourly charge or two hour minimum for an eligible single item delivery. One standard size item with reasonable access at both addresses. No pianos, oversized American style fridges, difficult spiral staircases or window lifts. These need a separate quote. The base charge covers collection, loading, transport and unloading of one eligible item. Changes to the item, access or work need a separate quote agreed before proceeding.

3. Additional charges

Out of hours starts

Bookings starting from 10pm up to, but not including, 6am London time have a 25% higher hourly rate or single item delivery base charge. For hourly bookings, the increased rate applies to the whole job and the two hour minimum still applies. Single item delivery is £87.50 with one man or £112.50 with two men during these hours, before extras. Any student or over 65 discount applies to hourly labour only. Mileage and other surcharges are not increased by the out of hours charge.

Mileage

Every road mile between collection and delivery is charged: £1.50 per mile for a Transit or £2.50 per mile for a Luton or Low loader. There is no free mileage allowance. This applies to hourly moves and single item deliveries, using the van booked. Driving time is also included in hourly job time for hourly bookings.

The online estimate uses postcode locations and road routing. We check the exact addresses and any extra stops when confirming the route.

Stairs

There is no separate charge per floor. On hourly bookings, carrying time is part of the time worked. Single item delivery requires reasonable access; difficult or specialist access needs a separately agreed quote.

London zones

A £15 ULEZ surcharge applies if either collection or delivery is within the Ultra Low Emission Zone. This applies to all vans, regardless of emissions. A £25 congestion zone surcharge applies if either address is within that zone, at any time of day or night. Each surcharge applies once per job, even when both addresses are inside. If both apply, the combined charge is £40. These are our business surcharges, not TfL’s vehicle charge amounts. The congestion-zone surcharge follows TfL’s zone boundary and helps cover difficult access, extra operating time and the increased risk of parking and traffic fines in central London.

Congestion-zone areas and surcharge explained

Blackwall and Silvertown Tunnel charges

If your agreed journey requires the Blackwall Tunnel or Silvertown Tunnel, you are responsible for any applicable crossing fees. These are added to the job price, including single item deliveries, separately from mileage and London zone surcharges.

We pass on the actual applicable TfL charge for each chargeable crossing required for your booking, taking account of the vehicle, crossing time and any discount or exemption. We confirm the expected charges with you before confirming the booking, or agree them with you if the route changes.

Tunnel fees are not automatically included in the postcode based online estimate unless specifically shown. The van operator arranges payment to TfL, and you pay the agreed tunnel fees as part of your final job payment.

Other arrangements

Additional stops, parking costs, permits, tolls, ferry or tunnel crossings, dismantling and unusual loads may affect the price. We discuss and agree any additional work or costs before you commit. European and complex long distance moves are individually quoted.

4. Estimates and access

Your online total is an estimate based on the information supplied. Hourly bookings depend on actual time worked. Eligible single item deliveries use the agreed base charge instead. Both depend on the verified route, access and agreed extras. We explain changes before confirming.

Please provide accurate contact details, addresses, an inventory and access information. Arrange lawful loading space, necessary permissions and someone to provide access at both ends. Goods should be ready for the agreed work. Let us know if key collection, lift access or parking changes.

5. Preparing goods

Pack loose items securely and protect fragile possessions. Identify unusually heavy, valuable or delicate items before booking so we can confirm suitable arrangements. Arrange safe appliance disconnection separately unless otherwise agreed. Illegal, dangerous or hazardous goods must not be included. We may decline unsafe work or goods we cannot reasonably transport.

6. Payment

Pay the driver at completion. We accept cash, card, Bitcoin or other crypto. Agree any different payment arrangement with us before the job.

7. Changes and cancellation

Call 07807 933846 or message us as soon as plans change, quoting your reference. An unconfirmed request can be withdrawn. Changes to confirmed dates, inventory or route depend on availability and may change the estimate. Any specific cancellation conditions must be disclosed and agreed when confirming the booking. Nothing here removes cancellation rights that apply by law.

8. Delays, concerns and your rights

Traffic, road restrictions and access can affect timings. Keep a contact phone available and let us know if your arrangements change. If there is a problem with the service or your goods, raise it with the driver and contact us promptly with the booking reference and relevant details.

We provide services with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited or removes your statutory consumer rights. Any insurance or special item arrangements must be confirmed directly.

9. Contact and privacy

Contact East London Man With A Van on 07807 933846 or hello@eastlondonmanwithavan.com. Read the privacy notice for how booking information is handled. The business’s legal identity, contact address and full agreed terms should be provided with your confirmation before entering a contract.
